How to Calculate Concrete Quantity for Circular Column?

In this article, we explained how to calculate volume concrete quantity for circular column and material required for the concrete mix

Circular Column Concrete Calculation

Given data:

From the Diagram details above

Diameter = 450mm – 0.450m

Total Height of the column = Foundation column + GF column + First floor + second floor = 3.6 +    3.0 + 3.0 + 3.0 = 12.6m

Note: we have excluded slab thickness from column concrete

Ratio of the concrete = M20 = 1:1.5:3

Ï€ x (0.3)2 x 3

Solution:

Radius = Diameter/2 = 0.450/2 = 0.225m

Volume of Circular column = πr2h

Volume of Circular column = π x (0.225)2 x 12.6 = 2.0039m3

Dry Volume of concrete = Volume (Cubic Meter) x 1.54

Where,

To convert Wet volume of concrete to Dry volume of material mix we multiply it by 1.52 to 1.54.

Dry Volume of concrete = 2.0039 x 1.54 = 3.086m3

 

Bag of Cement Required

Cement Volume = (Dry Volume x Cement ratio) / Sum of Ratio

Cement Volume = (3.086 x 1)/ (1+1.5+3) = (3.086)/5.5 = 0.561

No. of Cement Bags = cement volume/0.035 = 0.561/0.035 = 16.02 – 17bags

Note:

1 Bag of cement = volume of one cement bag = 0.035 m3.

1 Cement bag contains = 50 kg

Sand required

Sand Volume = (Dry Volume x Sand)/ Sum of ratio

Sand Volume = (3.086 x 1.5) / (1+1.5+3) = 4.629/5.5 = 0.8416

Sand in Tonnage = (Sand Volume x 1550) /1000

Sand required in Tonnage = (0.8416 x 1550) /1000 = 1.304ton

Sand required in kg = 1.304 x 1000 = 1304kg

Sand required in cft = 1.304 x 23.25cft = 30.318cft

 

Note:

Considering dry loose bulk density of sand = Density volume conversion sand m3 to kg = 1550 kg/m3

1000 kg = 1 Ton

1 ton = 23.25cft (beach sand)

 

Aggregate required

Aggregate Volume = (Dry Volume x Aggregate)/ Sum of ratio

Aggregate Volume = (3.086 x 3) / (1+1.5+3) = 9.258/5.5 =1.683

Aggregate required in Tonnage = (1.683 x 1350) /1000 = 2.272ton

Aggregate required in kg = 2.272 x 1000 = 2272kg

 

 

Material required for circular column concrete

Cement in bags = 17 bags

Sand required in Tonnage = 1.304ton

Aggregate required in Tonnage = 2.272ton
