Density of Steel = 7850 kg/m3 (kilogram / cubic meter)

Density of Steel = 0.00785 kgs/mm

 

Weight Calculation Of Solid Square Bar?

Weight Calculation Of Solid Square Bar

Solution:

Standard formulas

1. Weight of Square Steel bar in kgs/m = volume of steel bar x Density of steel dimension in metres

= 0.008 x 0.008 x 1.0 x 7850 = 0.5024 kgs/m

 

2. Weight of Square Steel bar in kgs/m = area of bar x Density of steel dimension in mm

= 8 x 8 x 0.00785 = 0.5024 kgs/m

 

According to thumb rule:

3. Weight of Square Steel bar in kgs/m = Area of bar / 127 dimension in mm

= (8 x 8) / 127 = 0.503 kgs/m

4. Weight of Square Steel bar in kgs/Ft = Area of bar / 416.56

= (8 x 8) / 416.56 = 0.1536 kgs/ Ft

 

 

Weight Calculation Of Flat plate Bar?

Weight Calculation Of Flat plate Bar

Solution :-      

Therefore, 1" = 25.4mm - 25.4 x 2 = 50.8mm

Section of Flat plate = 50.8mm x 2mm

 

Weight of Steel bar in kgs/m = Area of bar / 127

= (50.8 x 2) / 127

= 0.8 kgs/ m

Length of Flat plate = 8'

Therefore, 1’ = 0.3048m – 8 x 0.3048 = 2.4384m

Weight of Flat plate = 2.4384 x 0.8 =1.95072 kgs

 

Weight of Steel bar in kgs/Ft = Area of bar / 416.56

= (50.8 x 2) / 416.56

= 0.243 kgs/ Ft

Length of Flat plate = 8'

Weight of Flat plate = 0.243 x 8' = 1.944 kgs

 

Weight Calculation Of Angle Plate Bar?

Weight Calculation Of Angle Plate Bar

Solution:

Breadth – 2” + 2” = 4”

Therefore, 1" = 25.4mm - 25.4 x 4 = 101.6mm

Section of Flat plate = 101.6mm x 2mm

 

Weight of Steel bar in kgs/m = Area of bar / 127

= (101.6 x 2) / 127

= 1.6 kgs/ m

Length of Flat plate = 12'

Therefore 1’ = 0.3048m – 12 x 0.3048 = 3.65m

Weight of Flat plate = 3.65m x 1.6 = 5.8 kgs

 

Weight of Steel bar in kgs/Ft = Area of bar / 416.56

= (101.6 x 2) / 416.56 = 0.487 kgs/Ft

Length of Flat plate = 12'

Weight of Flat plate = 0.487 x 12' = 5.84400 kgs

 

Weight Calculation Of Hollow Square Pipe?

Hollow Square Pipe

Solution:

L = (L+B) x 2 = (2+2) x 2 = 8"

Therefore, 1" = 25.4mm - 8 x 25.4 = 203.2mm

Thickness of pipe = 2mm

Section of Flat plate = 203.2mm x 2mm  

 How to calculate steel structures weight 

Weight of Steel bar in kgs/m = Area of bar / 127

= (203.2 x 2) / 127

= 3.2 kgs/ m

Length of Flat plate = 18'

Therefore 1’ = 0.3048m – 18 x 0.3048 = 5.4864m

Weight of Flat plate = 5.4864m x 3.2 = 17.55 kgs

 

Weight of Steel bar in kgs/Ft = Area of bar / 416.56

= (203.2 x 2) / 416.56

= 0.975 kgs/ Ft

Length of Hollow square pipe = 18'

Weight of Hollow square pipe = 0.975 x 18' = 17.55 kgs
