FALSE CEILING CALCULATIONS

The ceiling provided under the true/actual ceiling is called a false ceiling. It usually has removable fluorescent lamps and drops beams and a tall interior appearance to cover HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) ducts. False ceiling is made of gypsum board and pop board (plaster of Paris) material, usually a gypsum board is a little more expensive than a pop board.

 

False ceiling calculation is done on the basis of area calculation border of Ceiling calculation is done under Running Feet (RFT If the ceiling has offset design will pay extra.

 

 

Problem-1

For a room measuring 12' x 16' with gypsum board, find the price of False-Ceiling with a simple design with a ceiling border and Fix 20nos of Round ceiling light.

a. If, 90 Rs/sqft Price for ceiling with material and installation

b. Rate/ running feet (RFT) for Ceiling border = 50 rs/rft along with material and installation.

c. Rate/each round ceiling light = 150 rupees

 

Solution:

Size of room = 12' x 16'

Area of False Ceiling = 12' x 16' = 192 sqft

Length of Ceiling border = Peripheral length "L" = (L+B) x 2 = (12'+16') x 2 = 56 Feet

 

1. Cost amount for Ceiling = Area of Ceiling x (Rate/sqft) for Ceiling = 192 x 90 = 17,280 rupees

 

2. Cost amount for Ceiling border = length of Ceiling border x Rate/ running feet (rft) = 56 x 50 = 2800 rupees

 

3. Cost of Ceiling lights = Rate of light fixing x no. of lights = 150 x 20 = 3,000 rupees

 

4. Total Cost = 17,280 + 2,800 + 3,000 = 23,080 rupees

 

 

Problem-2

Find Cost amount of False-Ceiling for a Room of size 15' x 25' with 1Feet off-set plain design along with the Ceiling border, by means of Gypsum board and Provide 25 nos of round Ceiling light. If,

a. Rate/SqFt for Ceiling = 90.0 rupees, along with material and installation.

b. Rate/SqFt for Ceiling off-set = 90.0 rupees, along with material and installation.

c. Rate/ running feet (rft) for Ceiling border = 50.0 rupees along with material and installation.

d. Rate/each round ceiling light = 150.0 rupees

 

 

Solution:

Size of room = 15' x 25'

Area of False Ceiling = 15' x 25' = 375 sqft

Length of False Ceiling off-set = (15' + 23') x 2 = 76.0 Feet

Area of False Ceiling off-set = L x B = 76' x 1' = 76.0 sqft

Length of Ceiling border = Peripheral length "L" = (L+B) x 2 = (15'+25') x 2 = 80 Feet

 

1. Cost amount for Ceiling = Area of Ceiling x Rate/sqft for Ceiling = 375 x 90 = 33750 rupees

 

2. Cost amount for Ceiling Off-set = Area of Ceiling off-set x Rate/sqft for Ceiling = 76.0 x 90 = 6840.0 rupees

 

3. Cost amount for Ceiling border = length of Ceiling border x Rate/ running feet = 80.0 x 50 = 4000 rupees

 

4. Cost of Ceiling lights = Rate of light fixing x no. of lights = 150 x 25 = 3750 rupees

 

5. Total Cost = 33,750+ 6,840.0 + 4,000 + 3,750 = 48,340 rupees

 

Note: If any ceiling is to be designed with heavy decoration with expensive lighting, the false ceiling calculation will be made only on the basis of the ceiling area, but the ratio/sqft will be higher than the normal charge.\
