How Do You Calculate The Size Of An
Irregular Plot? Plot Area Calculation
In this article, let's look at some irregular shapes of
land or plot area, and calculate the area of those areas using mathematical
formulas.
Example -1:
To find the area of the plot for given below shape
Solution:
Method - 1:
The area of plot can find out by using the trapezoidal
area formula
Therefore:
Area = 1/2 x [ a+ b ] x h
Area = 0.5 x [25+ 35] x 18
Area
= 540 sqft
Method - 2:
Area of plot can be found out by using thumb rule
Therefore: Dividing
area in to parts
A1 = Area-1 = 0.5 x 5 x 18 = 45.0 Ft2
A2 = Area-2 = 25 x 18 = 450 Ft2
A3 = Area-3 = 0.5 x 5 x 18 = 45.0 Ft2
Total
area of plot = 540.0 sqft
Example
-2:
To Find the area of the plot for given below shape
Solution:
Area of plot can be found out by using thumb rule
Therefore: Dividing
area in to parts
A1 = Area-1 = 50 x 42 = 2100 sqft
A2 = Area-2 = 0.5 x 8 x 12 = 28 sqft
A3 = Area-3 = 30 x 5 = 150 sqft
Total
area of plot = 2278 sqft
Example
- 3:
To Find area of plot for given below shape
Solution:
Area of plot can be found out by using thumb rule
Solution:
Area of plot can be found out by using thumb rule i.e.
dividing area in to parts
A1 = Area-1 = 0.5 X 32 X 45 = 720 sqft
A2 = Area-2 = √S(S-A) (S-B) (S-C)
where,
S = (a + b + c )/2
To find ‘c’
By pythogorous theorem
C = √(a2 + b2)
C = √(322 + 452)
C= 55.21
Therefore,
S = (85.50 + 80.50 + 55.21) / 2
S = 110.605
A2 = Area-2 = √ (110.605 (110.605-85.50) (110.605-80.50)
(110.605-55.21))
A2 = Area-2 = 2151.90
sqft
Total
area of plot = A1 + A2 = 2871.90 sqft
