What Is The Column Kicker Or Concrete Kicker? Application, Check List And Advantages

Concrete kickers are constructed in columns and walls to make the formwork fixing more convenient. after floor concreting work completed, we will have a flat surface and there is no component or support to fix the formwork. So the concrete kickers are built.

Concrete kickers used in,

1.  Concrete Column

2.  Concrete Wall

Therefore, kickers have identified as column concrete kickers also. The following figure indicates the concrete kicker constructed for a column and wall.

DIMENSIONS AND FORMWORK OF COLUMN AND WALL KICKER

The column kicker thickness is from 75mm to 150mm, while its width and length are equal to the column size on which the kicker is built. The ideal height of the column base is 75 mm as it provides a solid structural start to the column or wall construction.

Note: A kicker thickness should not be less than 75mm. and its  If the thickness more than 150mm, it will fall with the weight of the concrete in them.

1. Grade of the concrete should be maintained the same. which is difficult to deliver a small quantity of concrete

2. Concrete Compaction is difficult because of its small size.

CHECKLIST OF CONCRETE KICKER CONSTRUCTION

1.   As a general rule, the height of the column base should be 75 mm.

2.   The horizontal dimensions are equal to the column.

3.   The grade of the concrete of the kicker is equal to the grade of the column concrete.

4.   Pay special attention to this placement of formwork mistakes during construction.

5.   The column kicker must be roughened adequate.
