What Is Mohs Scale Of Hardness? And How To Use It
WHAT IS MOHS SCALE
A scale used to measure the relative hardness of a mineral by its resistance to scratching. Ok, let us come to the concept if you are digging something out of the ground or polishing something you should use something that is hard but not unnecessarily too hard so it should be expensive or out of reach. What we trying to say is we can use the costly knife to scratch the gypsum board or use the nail to scratch it.
MOHS scale will help you know the mineral hardness and its resistances
Mineral identification books have the Moss hardness number. Placing a mineral on a scale of 1 to 10 measures its hardness. 1 It is "soft" and unlikely to scratch other minerals but will get scratched by other minerals. 10 means "hard" will scratch all other minerals and not be scratched by other minerals.
BELOW CHART WILL DISPLAY SOME OF THE MINERALS MOHS SCALE OF HARDNESS
