HOW MUCH PAINTING MATERIAL DO I NEED?
LETS US CONSIDER
We have 20 x 10 ft new wall to paint
Let’s Calculate Materials For This Wall
STEP 01: FIND ITS AREA
Total Area = Length X Breadth
Total Area = 20 x 10 = 200 sq/ft
STEP 02: FIND QUANTITY OF PUTTY
The standard coverage of wall putty in
2 COATS IS 14 -16 SQFT/KG.
3 COATS IS 8 - 12 SQFT/KG.
So the calculation of estimation of wall putty count area of the wall and divide it's to 14/15/16.
Therefore,
Our area is 200sqft divide is by 15
= 200/15
= 13.33 =14kg
STEP 03: FIND QUANTITY OF PRIMER
Wall Primer covers 120 - 140 square feet per litre in one coat, whereas it covers 90-100 square feet per litre in two coats.
Therefore,
We will paint one coat of primer for this wall
So for 200 sqft wall = 200 / 120 = 1.67 litres – 2 litres
STEP 04: FIND QUANTITY OF PAINT
Interior paints usually termed Emulsions have coverage of about 80–100 sqft in 2 coats per litre.
Exterior paints, typically have a coverage of 40 sqft in 2 coats per litre.
Therefore,
We need to paint 200 sqft wall of an interior wall (we consider as interior wall)
So litre of paint we need 200/80 = 2.5 – 3 litre of paint we need to paint
RESULT
FOR 200 SQFT OF WALL WE NEED
14KG OF PUTTY
2 LITRES OF PRIMER
3 LITRES OF PAINT
